Live music - an interactive, fun, musical extravaganza where children young and old can make music with Southwark Concert Band. Funding for this event included the cost of 50 plastic kazoos - expect it to be noisy and fun!

Two performances at 2pm & 3.45pm. 'Green and Pleasant Land' fuses physical theatre, live music and folk traditions in a 45 minute epic adventure for audiences from age 5 upwards.
Join us on a quest powered by bicycle generators through lands of curious customs and peoples of peculiar habits, to find a happier, greener future!

Margam Park Field Trip
Based at the Field Studies Centre in South Wales where there is extensive parkland on Coal Measures sandstone and shales with a range of habitats. The nearby Kenfig National Nature Reserve of sand-dunes will also be visited. The cost is expected to be in the region of £260.

Every year the Friends of Brockwell Park hold the Tree Celebration. People pay to have trees planted to remember loved ones, celebrate family or other events - or just for love of the park. The tree celebration is when the Mayor of Lambeth comes to help us dedicate the trees - it's always a wonderful and moving occasion.

A fantastic event for your calendar and now part of the BTF London League - the Windrush Aquathlon at Brockwell park! With a traffic free route, it's ideal for those who have never raced and those aiming for a PB.

The South London Botanical Institute is at 323 Norwood Road SE24 9AQ - just five minutes walk from the Park's Norwood gate.   Entry is free and volunteers will be available to show you round.
It's open every Thursday from 10am to 4pm and will also open by appointment.
The SLBI was founded in 1910. It has a fine botanical library and an extensive and historic collection of dried plant specimens. Click here for more information

Herbal Medicine Summer School A short intensive course covering identification, early herbal manuscripts, and visits. No previous knowledge required, just an interest in the subject. The course will include an introduction to a range of native and introduced plants used in herbal medicine, their history and identification. The course will be partly based at SLBI, using the garden, library and herbarium of dried specimens with guided walks. There will be visits around London, using public transport, including trips to Chelsea Physic Garden, The Wellcome Institute Library, the Royal College of Physicians' Physic Garden, and guided walks on Tooting Common, and Battersea Park. Local Youth Theatre presents presents a specially devised piece of theatre based on a missing girl hiding in the park. Humorous, touching and thought provoking, a number of different storylines will be interwoven including elements of A Midsummer Night's Dream.
The play is developed and performed with local people from workshops and masterclasses for 13 to 19 year olds every Friday evening during term-time at the Brixton Community Base, Talma Road SW2 1AS.

Attic Theatre and Sixteen Feet present Shakespeare's bittersweet comedy about sexual attraction in all its guises; life, love, death and gender-bending. The play is set in a small island in the Mediterranean, vaguely in the 1960s.

Hume’s History: Performance by storyteller Giles Abbott
Part of the Heritage Lottery funded programme exploring the life of Allan Octavian Hume, founder of the SLBI. Giles Abbott will be presenting his story based on talks given at the SLBI, audience feedback and his own research. Suitable for all ages 11+.
After the story, Giles will answer questions and lead a workshop, (suitable for adults only), sharing some of the skills needed to tell a compelling story and teaching participants how to tell their version of Hume's story. Audience and cast will move around the beautiful Walled Garden in this specially created drama of the classic story performed by a company of actor-musicians. Workshops for children and young people available for groups of 10 or more. These will need to be booked in advance.

Botanical Survey of St Leonard’s Churchyard, Streatham
Join us on a Botanical Survey of St Leonard’s churchyard, (at the junction of Tooting Bec Gardens, Streatham High Road, and Mitcham). Members of the Institute have been visiting St Leonard’s for several years and recording the plants which grow there. So far over 100 species of flowering plants and ferns have been recorded, and about 20 species of both mosses and lichens. We learn from each other, develop our identification skills, and welcome new pairs of eyes to spot previously unnoticed plants, and add to this long-term project. Brockwell's annual open air Chalk Fest. Join our community chalk-in and decorate the paths of the Park with the wild and beautiful creations of our imaginations! Suitable for beginners and experienced - FREE - everyone welcome.

Brockwell Park Bat Walk
Meet at the Clock Tower at 7.30pm. We'll walk down to the ponds to find beautiful bats. Wear sensible shoes and dress for the weather. Children are welcome, but no dogs please.

The walk will take about an hour and will be led by Dr Iain Boulton who is both interesting and very well-informed as well as being possessed of a very infectious enthusiasm. Iain will bring bat detectors (highly sensitive high-frequency microphones and amplifiers) for you to use.

With the demise of "Blue Plaques" local artist Marilyn Rogers (Muse) will help you create your own versions to celebrate local heroes and heroines.

3rd Thought Theatre presents a new production of personal memoirs of writers, refugees and explorers. The 30 minute show will be repeated eight times to allow as many people as possible to enjoy an intimate theatre experience.
